Cable Wire

Small wire to frame the negative battery cable from the cable car is not connected to the frame. Is that correct?

I installed a battery new car. The negative cable had the lead and ran a small wire to a bolt in the frame. The eyelet for the small wire broke. Still connected POSITVE and the negative battery terminal and everything is working. Is that the small ground wire cable of the battery? Is it safe to let the little cable disconnected until you can get a new cable?

It provides a better field for the frame, I think the negative cable is screwed into the engine block which is bolted to the chassis. It is basically redundant. Sort of makes for rubber engine mounts. If everything still works not worry. EDIT: For you Sayers No, my 1984 Toyota 4X4 pickup was a similar configuration. When replacing the battery cables I chose to ground the negative cable to the engine block instead of the defense and was originally made. Is still running after 12 years without any problems. He carried out an engine, 5 clutch, 3 alternators and a ring and pinion ... but never had a problem Electrical beyond expected wear.
